Geeky Rambles with Charelle and Karina Episode 14

Separating the art from the artist

Hello everyone! In today’s episode Karina and Charelle talk about a very challenging topic: separating the art from the artist. Please be conscious of your own triggers whilst listening.

For the (Extended) Top 5, Charelle talks about The Fosters, which she delved into during a previous episode but you can never talk about a good thing too much.

Karina talks about Wandee Goodday. The main characters are Wandee, left (the doctor) and Yak, right (the boxer - whose name Karina forgot in the recording).

On to the main topic. Charelle talks about J.K. Rowling and what the Harry Potter stories meant to her as a child. The first HP book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was released in 1997. The first movie was released in 2001.

Karina talks about Michael Jackson and how his music was part of her music education.

The discomfort of discovering that the creator of art that has been integral to your emotional memories and perhaps connection to someone important in your life, or supported you through difficult times, has fallen from grace is very challenging. Karina and Charelle share their inconclusive thoughts, whilst acknowledging the pain and suffering of those that are impacted by the individual’s actions.

Thanks for listening!
